I'll be sure to get some pictures of Emily wearing it on her wedding day!
How is it already the end of July?! Never the less, summer as been so amazing here! It's been super hot and the lake is refreshing.

We're happy to report that Emily has finished her Wedding Shawl and is knee deep in wedding preparations. We will soon be getting our crafternoon on to finish up some of the fine details of the décor.

I finally finished my Colour Affection Shawl, my Cable Gloves and the Sunnies Case from the last post. The Sunnies case we will be using in our Learn to Knit classes this fall and I've added a cute inside pocket for your ID and debit cards. So handy!

Now that the heave Colour Affection is out of the way, I've moved on to some lighter summer knitting.
On my needles know is a pair of socks for my Grandpa. He's 90 and loves his hand knit socks. I knit socks two at a time using magic loop and usually from the toe up. I like toe up because you can knit your toes and use that as a gauge swatch and from that do your calculations. I reach for Toe-Up 2-at-a-time every time I do socks, it's a great reference. I'm also working on Bad Oyster but that is a whole other blog post. I'll leave you with this for now, happy knitting! -Karla

I have to apologize  I think that I accidentally lied to you. I am so sorry. I am out of ideas for the Wedding Shawl. I didn't mean to lead you on to believe that there were more ideas coming.  That also means that it is time to pick one of those beautiful creations to become part of my Big Day.

I've taken a tiny picture of the lace on my dress so that you might understand the reasoning for my choice without giving too much away. I am going with the PPaola shawl by MawLuckey/JAne Araujo. They have many other beautiful patterns that I hope you check out.

I am planning on casting on this weekend if I can find the time. Don't forget the annual alpaca shearing at Oyama Lake Alpaca farm this Saturday from 9-11. We'll be there, will you?

Take a look at this beauty! Where do I begin on describing what I love about it? Lets start with how large it is (by now I think you know I want a big shawl) second that by the beautiful flower that takes center stage! LOVELY!

This shawl is available for purchase on Ravlery. The design is by MaweLucky/Jane Araujo and its called PPaola. I think this would be stunning done in red. It's on the list as one of my favorites, but I still have a few more ideas up my sleeve. Upon the advice of many of my friends I have decided not to commit to a pattern until I have committed to a dress.

This beauty is the Circle of Life Shawl and is published by Fiber Trends. I think it is just lovely!

Our good friend Anne at Keowna Yarn and Needlecraft showed it to me a while back and I thought I'd revisit it. Like the previous posts, I do love that this shawl is so large. I also love that it is a circular shawl, I haven't made one of those yet.

I have a few more options to come so stay tuned.

Happy Knitting!

I love Nancy Bush. She has some fabulous patterns including socks, gloves, hand-warmers, and of course shawls.

This particular little gem is called Crown Prince Square Shawl. It is available in Nancy's book Knitted Lace of Estonia. I think it is beautiful. I love the large X's around the border and I do love how big this shawl is. It is very regal and I think it would make a great addition to my wedding day. I still haven't made a final decision on which shawl to knit, but this is definitely in the running!

Have you knit a shawl for your wedding? Which pattern did you pick?

Happy Knitting!

My quest continues!

This shawl is by Rosemary Hill. It's called Fiori di SoleI. love the large leaf details at the shoulder and the flower like lace along the trim. I also love how large this shawl is. I think it could be perfect for a wedding.

What do you think?

A shawl is no small project. It is a serious commitment. Knowing how much time will be spent with a pattern when making a shawl, one does not pick a pattern lightly.

I want to make myself a shawl for my wedding this summer and I'm in the process finding a pattern that I'm sure I'll spend a lot of time with. Here is one of my picks. It's called the Elizabeth Shawl by Dee O'Keefe. It's a square shawl and I think it's stunning! As much as I love the green, I think I would stick to traditional white. It's available as a $5.00 Ravelry download.

What do you think?
