We've had a number of inquiries about crochet class and that is only something we can organize privately for parties of 5 or more. Unfortunately, we don't regularly teach crochet.

As many of you have heard, Relentless Knitting Company is expanding! We are expecting babies at the end of August and at the end of October. This exciting time means that we are both in baby knitting overdrive. We thought that this would be an excellent time to share all of our baby knitting plans with you! Karla I have two main things I want to knit for my baby. A mobile and some toys. The mobile is going to be knit birds. I'll be using Bluebird of Happiness by Sara Elizabeth Kellner. It's a free pattern on Ravelry and I'd like to add quilting fabric for wings. I purchased Cascade 220 Superwash Sport in red, teal, green and gold at a recent knitting retreat in Langley, BC with Tin Can Knits and Knit Social at 88 Stitches. The colours go so well together I hope to use the leftovers for a sweater or possibly a Rebecca Danger monster for baby (but I don't want to get ahead of myself). Here's my inspiration; The next thing on my list is a set of toys called The Backyard Bandits by Barbara Prime. They are the cutest little trio that I immediately went out and bought the colours in Berroco Vintage to knit them. I plan to do right down to their cute little 'kerchiefs. The last thing on the list, and this is something I will not be rushing to do but more of an in between projects project is the POP Blanket by Tin Can Knits. I also got the yarn for this at 88 Stitches on my retreat and it's a very cool cast on and quick piece knit project. I got Liberty Wool Light in two coordinating colourways to make it gender neutral and 220 Superwash in cream for the boarder. It will likely be something that is finished after baby is born though. I've always said that I would prefer not to knit baby clothes/sweaters because they grow out of them so fast. However I recently knit two sweaters for friends who just had babies and my heart melted knitting them so I think I will reconsider for my baby. I knit Storytime Scholor by Lisa Chemery and Harry Potter Gryffindor Baby Jacket/Sweater. Both sweaters are knit in Martha Stewart Alpaca. Finally, before I can do any of the above knitting, another friend of mine is having her baby in September and has asked for a baby blanket. I'm so happy to do it for her and the yarn I'm using is divine. I'm crocheting it with SMC Extra Soft Merino in cream, grey and mustard. I'm so happy with how the colours are working together. Click on the picture for the tutorial and stay tuned for all my FOs! Emily I have have three things that I want to knit for baby. The first is the Pop Blanket that Karla mentioned above. I'm going to do a cream back ground, but I'm going to do the dots in Hudson's Bay Company colours. I think this will go well the the general Canadian wildlife theme we have picked for the nursery. I have already purchased the yarn on our trip to 88 Stitches. I went with Karla's pick of the Cascade 220 superwash, and in case you don't know, the HBC colours are gold, red, navy and green. I think it's going to be just splendid! As for sweaters, I have two picked out. We are waiting for the delivery to find out if we are having a little boy, or a little girl, so I am determined to make not one, but two sweaters. They're baby sweaters, they'll knit up fast, right? The first one I have picked out is Maile Sweater. It's a free pattern on Ravelry. I have this precious pink Malabrigo yarn in a colour way called 'light of love' already purchased. I can't wait to see it all knit up. The second is the Henry's Sweater. A sweet little double breasted cardigan. I am in love with it. I bought some extra Cascade 220 in a forest green to whip this bad boy up. Once I'm finished all of the baby knits, I am hoping to have some time to knit for the mom to be. I have all the yarn stashed away to make myself the Antler Cardigan out of Tin Can Knits book Pacific Knits. One of my favourite things about this, and most, if not all, of Tin Can Knits patterns are that they are sized from itsy bitsy (0-6 months) to oh my gosh that's a big sweater (4XL). I smell an awkward family photo coming soon!! We can't wait to show you all of our FO's from yarn and otherwise. Stay tuned for our baby knitting progress in the months to come. Better yet, if you're local, join us for Knit Night! |
